Adjustment and saying goodbye

At least 2 weeks before the start date, a pedagogical staff member of the group will contact you to make an appointment for an intake interview. You will also make an appointment to come and visit the child twice in the last week before the start date. During the intake you will have a conversation with the group leader in which everything about your child and the group will be discussed. We ask you to complete the questions in the app of Konnect before the intake.

During the early visits, the focus is on both parent and child feeling comfortable, safe and secure in the group and with the teachers, as everyone is getting to know and trust one another. The purpose of the shorter visits is to encourage adjustment during a week when the parents are directly available, when a whole day of care is not necessary. To establish predictability for the child, the parent will stay only briefly, and when leaving will do so in a clear manner under the guidance of the teacher. While some children may cry when separating from their parents in the beginning of the day, it’s also common that they cry when they have to leave at the end of the day. It is our goal that you and your child feel safe and confident as you begin each day, feeling and trusting the loving care of experts.
